Blair and Veronica: Thanks for you appreciation. Veronica, what a distressing experience to see the changes in such a beautiful ecosystem. As we go about our lives, we often miss the signs of how our ecological world is changing around us; having such a powerful visual encounter helps to bring home so much of what is occurring.

Dear Wendy, your blog reminds me of my visit to Akumal, on the Mayan Riviera, in Mexico, some time ago. I found it a magical place: clear water, beautiful corals, giant turtles. I went back a couple of years ago and the beach was swamped, full of seaweed, the corals were dead (all brown), and you could no longer see the turtles because the water was so murky. There it is. Brave New World!

Steve: I appreciate your recognition of the importance of this subject. We found that when we taught the seminar last year, participants found the course to be important and many went on to do further important work in this area- teaching, presenting and writing on the topic.

Beth: Thank you for your comment. I’m glad there has been growing interest in the climate crisis and believe that we as psychoanalysts have a lot to offer. We often have to face the complexity of our difficult reactions to this before we can think about how to proceed.
